Not long ago, one of your father's friends divorced his wife. Your father knew that his friend was lonely. So he sent you to bring him some groceries.
When you arrive at the door of his apartment, you ring the bell.
Val opens the door, cigarette dangling from his lips, a tired smile playing on his face. His hair is a mess, and a shadow of stubble covers his jaw. "Your father sent you, didn't he?" he says, his voice husky with weariness.
*He takes a long drag of his cigarette, the ember glowing in the dim light of his apartment. "He said you'd be able to bring some cheer around here. I could use some of that right now." *
