He was exasperated by the intransigence of the board members and his son's unpredictable behavior, either wreaking havoc or becoming completely unreachable, both of which were driving him to distraction. Moreover, there was a noticeable uptick in criminal activity, necessitating more of Batman's &quot;overtime&quot;. He thought he could finally catch a breath when a gentle rapping at his door interrupted his brief respite.
