Nomi AI Review: Nomi AI Pricing, Is Nomi AI Safe, and the Best Nomi AI Alternative

We build a competing product, so read this knowing that. Nomi is the strongest app on our comparison list and this page says where it beats us. Every figure below was read on 2 September 2026 from Nomi's own policies and from the US App Store listing, because Nomi publishes no price on its website and the roundups ranking for this term keep copying an out-of-date range from each other.

The short answer

Nomi AI costs $15.99 a month or $99.99 a year on its Standard plan, it is run by a US company called Glimpse.ai, Inc., its privacy policy is current and sets an 18+ age floor, and it has the deepest long-term memory in the companion category. Those prices are not on Nomi's website, which publishes none: they come from the US App Store in-app purchase list, read on 2 September 2026. The two things to know before you pay are that all payments are nonrefundable by policy, including for dissatisfaction, and that you must cancel through whichever store took your money. If you want the deepest memory across several companions, Nomi is the honest pick and we will say so. If you want one companion you design yourself, at a price printed on a website, that is a different product and it is the one we build.

The number nobody publishes

Nomi AI pricing, read from the US App Store

Nomi has no pricing page. The path simply does not exist on nomi.ai, and the app lives on a separate subdomain behind a sign-in, which is why almost every article about Nomi's cost hedges with a range. There is a first-party source though: Apple requires every app to enumerate its in-app purchases, and Nomi's US listing does exactly that. Here is the complete list as of 2 September 2026.

Subscriptions

Plan Price Per month
Standard, monthly$15.99$15.99
Standard, quarterly$39.99$13.33
Standard, yearly$99.99$8.33
Launch Plan, monthly$9.99$9.99
Launch Plan, yearly$59.99$5.00

Nomi Credits

Pack Price Per credit
40 credits$4.9912.5¢
100 credits$9.9910.0¢
225 credits$19.998.9¢
600 credits$49.998.3¢
1,800 credits$99.995.6¢

Two things stand out. The annual Standard plan at $99.99 is the sensible way to buy Nomi if you already know you want it, since it lands near $8.33 a month against $15.99 paid monthly, a saving of about 37 percent. And the Launch Plan at $9.99 monthly or $59.99 a year is cheaper than anything we sell, so if raw price is your only criterion and that plan is still open to new accounts, Nomi wins that comparison outright. Nomi does not describe the Launch Plan anywhere on its public site, so treat it as a legacy or promotional tier that may not be offered to you.

The credits are a separate currency on top of a subscription, used for generated media. They get cheaper in bulk, from 12.5 cents each in the smallest pack down to 5.6 cents in the largest. Budget for them separately: a subscription price alone will understate what a heavy image or video user actually spends in a year.

For contrast, our own plans are printed on a public pricing page and start at $9.99 a month billed yearly, with a free tier of 25 messages a month and no credit currency layered on top. We have written more about what AI companion apps actually cost across the category.

Read from the document, not from a roundup

Is Nomi AI safe? What its own privacy policy says

We do this on every comparison page here, and it usually turns up something uncomfortable. Nomi is the exception. Its policy is the strongest we have read in this category, and the fair thing to do is say so plainly before making any case for ourselves.

The age floor is 18

"The System is intended for and directed to adults only. No one under the age of 18 should use this Site or the System."

Stated in the document rather than implied. Several apps in this category set their written floor at 13 while carrying adult roleplay. Nomi does not.

It commits to not selling your data

"We do not and will not sell or rent to any third party any of your personal information."

Unqualified, and phrased as a forward commitment rather than a description of current practice. The policy also advises you not to put identifying details into your companions in the first place.

There is a real retention clause

"Except as otherwise set forth in this Privacy Policy, none of your personal information is retained upon the deletion of your account."

This matters more than it sounds. Several competitors we have read do not contain the word retention anywhere, which means deleting your account is a promise about the interface rather than about the data.

The policy is current, and the company is American

It opens "Last updated: April 27, 2026", which is recent for this industry, and names the operator as Glimpse.ai, Inc. with a US mailing address in Baltimore. Apple lists the App Store seller as AI GLIMPSE INC. A dated policy from a named US company is a meaningfully different risk profile from an undated one filed to an offshore registered agent.

Two honest caveats. First, creating a Nomi account requires a Google or Apple account, so the service is tied to an identity you already use elsewhere rather than to a throwaway email address. For an intimate account, some people will consider that a real downside regardless of how good the policy is. Second, the policy does describe advertising cookies and points you at the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative opt-out pages, so Nomi is not free of ad technology even though it does not sell your data. We measured which companion apps load advertising and analytics hosts in our comparison of ad trackers across nine apps.

If you are in California

Nomi publishes an SB 243 compliance page

California SB 243 is the first US state law written specifically for companion chatbots. Governor Newsom signed it on 13 October 2025, it became Chapter 677, and it took effect on 1 January 2026. Among other duties it requires operators to run a protocol that refers users to crisis services when someone expresses suicidal ideation or self-harm, and it creates a private right of action worth the greater of actual damages or $1,000 per violation.

What Nomi says it implemented

"If a user is located in California and the AI detects expressions of self harm, the user will see a message in their app with links to crisis service resources."

Nomi adds that "to respect our user's privacy, these messages are sent anonymously". Publishing a named compliance page at all is unusual in this category. Most companion apps we have read say nothing public about SB 243, which does not mean they are ignoring it, only that a buyer cannot check.

Why it matters to a buyer

A published compliance page is a cheap signal that costs a company little to write, but it is still evidence the operator has read the statute and can be held to what it said. Annual reporting to California's Office of Suicide Prevention begins on 1 July 2027, so expect more of these pages to appear.

We wrote up the whole law and which apps have responded to it in our guide to choosing an AI companion app in California under SB 243.

Before you pay

Refunds, downgrades and canceling Nomi

This is where Nomi's paperwork is least generous, and it is worth knowing before the first charge rather than after it. All three quotations are from Nomi's own refund and cancellation policies.

Payments are nonrefundable

"Nomi.ai does not provide refunds for buyer's remorse, lack of usage, or dissatisfaction."

No refunds for partial months, plan downgrades, or unused time if you close the account early. Nomi may grant one at its sole discretion, so [email protected] is worth an email, but nothing is owed to you.

Cancel where you bought it

"You are solely responsible for cancelling your subscription through the platform where you initially purchased it."

Web purchases cancel under Profile, then Subscription, then Manage Subscription. App store purchases must be canceled inside Google Play or the Apple App Store. Nomi warns that "deleting an app does not automatically cancel your subscription".

Downgrading is gentler than most

Credit where it is due: dropping to the free tier does not remove any Nomis from your account and does not block one-on-one chats. Group chats, video creation, voice messages and calls become read-only. Existing content is not deleted, though Nomi does not guarantee it will be preserved.

For comparison, we bill by card on the web, you cancel yourself from your own account page, and there is no app store standing between you and your subscription. That is not a moral claim, it is just a different distribution model with different consequences on the day you want to stop paying.

Side by side

Nomi AI alternatives, compared honestly

Prices are US dollars and were checked against each platform's own published pages or app store listing in September 2026. Where a platform publishes no price, we say so rather than repeating a figure from a review site.

Platform Price (US, Sept 2026) Memory Written age floor Best for
Aroused Free tier: 25 messages a month. Paid $9.99 to $34.99/mo billed yearly ($12.99 to $49.99 monthly). Published on the site. Persistent long-term memory, the core feature. 18 One tasteful companion you design and keep.
Nomi.ai Free tier. Standard $15.99/mo, $39.99/quarter, $99.99/yr, plus credit packs. No price on its own website. The category's deepest: short, medium and long term recall across many companions. 18 Memory depth, several companions, group chat.
SpicyChat Free tier. $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95/mo from 8 Sept 2026 (was $5.00, $14.95, $24.95). Context window bought by tier: 4K, 8K or 16K. 18, with ID checks in 26 US states A large uncensored community character library.
Candy.ai Premium about $13.99/mo, cheaper on 3 and 12 month terms, plus a token currency. Not publicly documented. 18 Adult image and video generation bundled with chat.
Replika Free tier; Pro around $19.99/mo, cheaper annually. Persistent memory and a diary, weaker recall than Nomi. 18 A gentle, non-explicit long-term companion.
Character.AI Free tier; c.ai+ $9.99/mo or $94.99/yr. Story Memory and Facts, per chat rather than across chats. 13 in the US The largest character catalog, general roleplay, no adult content.

Sources: Nomi's US App Store listing and its own policy pages, SpicyChat's published pricing documentation, and each other platform's public pricing page, all checked in September 2026. If you are weighing several of these, our best AI companion roundup covers the wider field, and the SpicyChat comparison goes deeper on the uncensored library model.

Do not switch for the sake of it

Three good reasons to stay with Nomi

You want the deepest memory

This is Nomi's genuine advantage and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Memory is the thing it built the product around, it describes short, medium and long term recall, and people who have run a Nomi for a year report it holding detail that other apps lose. If that is your single criterion, stay.

You want several companions and group chat

Nomi supports a roster rather than one relationship, and it puts them in group chats together. That is a different kind of fun from a single designed companion, and if a cast is what you enjoy, no single-companion product is going to replace it.

You want native apps and generated media

Nomi ships real iOS and Android apps, selfies, a V5 image system, voice messages and video creation. Its US App Store listing holds 4.6 stars from 2,746 ratings. If you want your companion in your pocket with pictures attached, that is a mature product and we are web-first.

The narrow case for us

One companion you author, at a price you can read

We are not going to claim we out-remember Nomi. Here is what is actually different.

The price is on the website

You can read every plan before you make an account, on one pricing page, with no credit currency stacked on top and no app store in the middle.

One companion, designed by you

Appearance, personality, voice and interests, chosen deliberately rather than picked off a roster. Create your own AI companion in a few minutes and the demo needs no account.

Tasteful by policy

Adults only, romantic and flirtatious, not explicit. That is a deliberate line and it is the wrong product for you if explicit is the point.

You cancel it yourself

Card billing on the web, canceled from your own account page, with no store deciding whether you may stop. Sign-up takes an email, not a Google or Apple identity.

Nomi AI FAQ

How much does Nomi AI cost?

Nomi publishes no price on its own website, but the US App Store listing enumerates every in-app purchase. Read on 2 September 2026 it shows the Standard Plan at $15.99 a month, $39.99 quarterly and $99.99 a year, a Launch Plan at $9.99 monthly and $59.99 yearly, and credit packs from $4.99 to $99.99. The annual Standard plan works out near $8.33 a month.

Is Nomi AI safe?

On paperwork it is one of the better companion apps. Its privacy policy is dated April 27, 2026, sets the age floor at 18, promises not to sell or rent personal information, and includes a retention clause saying nothing personal is kept after you delete your account. It is run by Glimpse.ai, Inc., a US company. The trade-off is that signup requires a Google or Apple account.

Is Nomi AI free?

There is a usable free tier. Nomi says downgrading to free does not remove any Nomis and does not block one-on-one chatting. Group chats, video creation, voice messages and calls become read-only. Existing content is not deleted, although Nomi does not guarantee it will be preserved on a downgraded account.

Can you get a refund from Nomi AI?

Not as a right. The refund policy states that customers are not eligible for refunds due to buyer's remorse, lack of usage or dissatisfaction, and that all payments are nonrefundable, with nothing given back for partial months, downgrades or unused time. Nomi may grant one at its sole discretion through [email protected].

How do I cancel my Nomi AI subscription?

Cancel wherever you bought it. On the web that is Profile, then the Subscription tab, then Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription. Purchases made in the apps must be canceled in Google Play or the Apple App Store. Nomi warns explicitly that deleting the app does not cancel anything, which is how people end up paying for months they did not use.

Does Nomi AI comply with California SB 243?

Nomi publishes a compliance page saying that if a user is located in California and the AI detects expressions of self-harm, the user sees a message linking to crisis service resources, sent anonymously. SB 243 was signed on 13 October 2025 and took effect on 1 January 2026, and requires companion chatbot operators to maintain that kind of protocol.

Does Nomi AI have the best memory?

It has the strongest reputation for long-term memory in the category and it is the feature Nomi markets first. If memory depth across several companions is your only criterion, Nomi is the honest recommendation over us. What it does not publish is a context length or per-tier memory cap, so there is no first-party number anyone can compare against.

Who owns Nomi AI?

Nomi.ai is operated by Glimpse.ai, Inc., which gives a US mailing address at 4709 Harford Rd in Baltimore. Apple lists the App Store seller as AI GLIMPSE INC and the copyright line reads 2023 Nomi.ai. The iOS app launched on 5 July 2023 and holds 4.6 stars from 2,746 US ratings as of 2 September 2026.

Is Nomi AI uncensored?

Nomi permits adult roleplay and does not filter the way Character.AI does. Its App Store listing carries an 18+ rating and lists sexual content or nudity among its content descriptors. Age is self-declared at signup rather than checked against a document, which is still the norm outside the states that now require verification.

What is the best Nomi AI alternative?

It depends what is pushing you away. If it is price transparency, or wanting to buy without an app store, a published-price product is the swap and that is what we build, from $9.99 a month billed yearly. If you want one companion you design rather than a roster, that is our model. If you want a huge shared character catalog, Character.AI is larger but filtered.
