SpicyChat pricing changes on September 8, 2026
If you landed here because your renewal notice looked different, this is why. SpicyChat published a pricing update in its own documentation, and every figure below is copied from that page rather than from a review site. The steepest change is the middle tier, True Supporter, which moves by a third on both billing terms. Existing subscribers keep their price
SpicyChat says an active recurring subscription "will keep renewing at the price you pay today", monthly or annual, for as long as you keep it active and do not change plans. It declines to promise that forever, on the grounds that nobody can predict what running AI models costs in a few years.
Any plan change ends the lock
Upgrading, downgrading, or switching between monthly and annual all move you onto current pricing, and the old rate does not come back. Downgrading does not get you the old price on the lower tier either. That is worth knowing before you experiment.
A lapsed payment loses it
If a card fails and the subscription fully expires, SpicyChat says the old pricing cannot be restored. Anyone paying by a method that does not auto-renew has no price to lock at all, so any purchase dated on or after September 8, 2026 is at the new rate.
Euro pricing matches the dollar figures. In pounds the monthly rates from September 8, 2026 are £4.95, £16.95 and £25.95. SpicyChat is explicit that no features are being removed: this is a price change only, and every tier keeps what it includes today. Read that table next to the price table and the trade becomes clear. Memory on SpicyChat is something you buy in increments, and even the top tier is a 16K context window rather than a companion who carries what you told it into next week. That is a design choice, not a flaw, and it suits a site built around trying many characters. It is the opposite of how an AI companion with persistent memory works, where remembering you is the product rather than a tier.

SpicyChat now checks your age in 26 US states
This is the part that catches American buyers off guard, and it is documented on SpicyChat's own support site rather than being a rumor. To comply with state age assurance laws, SpicyChat runs an identity check before it will show adult content to users in a named list of jurisdictions.

Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming and West Virginia. Outside the US it also names France, the UK, Italy and Australia.
The check itself is run by a third-party verification partner. In most regions it is a video selfie, falling back to an ID check with a face match if your age cannot be confirmed; some regions only offer the ID route. SpicyChat says it never sees, receives or stores the images or documents, and that in most cases you verify once per account rather than per device.
What happens if you skip it
You keep your account and can keep using the platform, but adult content stays locked until the check is done. So on a site whose main draw is uncensored roleplay, an unverified account in one of those 26 states is paying for a materially smaller product.
Worth thinking about before you buy an annual plan.

You want explicit or uncensored chat
Aroused is adults only and comfortable with romance and flirtation, but it does not produce explicit material, and that is a permanent product decision. Is SpicyChat safe? What its own policy says
SpicyChat keeps its policies behind a JavaScript shell, which is why most articles about it describe the vibe rather than the document. Rendered and read on 1 September 2026, here is what is actually in there, good and bad.
Dated May 2023
The policy opens "Last updated: May 04, 2023". That is more than three years old, during which the product changed considerably. A date is better than no date at all, which is more than Joyland manages, but it is stale.
An unfilled placeholder
The definitions section reads: Company "refers to SpicyChat.AI, Corporate Address." The words "Corporate Address" are where a street address should be, still sitting in the template. There is no company address published in the document.
Credit where due
It does have a "Retention of Your Personal Data" section, which several competitors skip entirely, and it names its country: "Country refers to: Canada". Knowing which jurisdiction you are dealing with is genuinely useful.
On tracking, SpicyChat comes out well. When we fetched its homepage on 1 September 2026 it loaded exactly one third-party host, script.tapfiliate.com, which is affiliate attribution rather than advertising. No tag manager, no advertising pixel, no session replay and no consent frame. Among the apps we measured, only Chub was lighter. The honest summary: SpicyChat is not doing anything alarming, and on advertising it is cleaner than most of the category. What it has is an aging document with a template placeholder still in it, which tells you the paperwork has not kept pace with the product. Compare that with Joyland AI, whose policy carries no date at all and whose consent dialog names 211 advertising partners.
