The short answer
Joyland AI is a large, free to browse character chat platform with explicit adult roleplay on its front page, and two things in its own paperwork are worth knowing before you pay it: the account age floor is 13, and its consent dialog says device data may be shared with 211 partners. It publishes no price at all until you have an account, its terms let you cancel only through whichever payment partner took your money, and its privacy policy carries no date and no retention period. None of that makes it a scam. It is a real product with a real catalog, a real memory feature and a written policy against sexualized minors. It is simply built like an advertising-funded consumer app, and if you want an adults-only service with a price you can read and a subscription you control, that is a different kind of product.

The thing nobody mentions
Joyland AI sets its account age floor at 13
This is not an inference from a signup form. Both of Joyland's legal documents say it, in the same words, and you can read them at joyland.ai/document/privacy and joyland.ai/document/tos. Section 5 of the privacy policy is headed "Age Requirement" and opens like this.
"If you are under 13 years old OR if you are an EU citizen or resident under 16 years old, you are not authorized to register to use the Services. Our Services are not directed to children who are under the age of 13, regardless of location, or children under 16 who are located in a European Union Member State."
The terms of service repeat the same threshold in their "Use of the Services" section. So the published rule is that a 13 year old may hold an account, while the same company's content policy separately forbids sexualizing anyone under 18 and the home page carries openly explicit characters.
Two honest caveats. First, this is a statement about what the documents say, not a claim that minors are using the service, and we are not making that claim. Second, that 13 and 16 framing is lifted almost word for word from the standard COPPA and GDPR boilerplate that generic privacy policy templates ship with, which is the most likely explanation: nobody raised the number after the product became an adult one. Either way, the published floor is the published floor, and for a service built around explicit roleplay it is the single most surprising thing in the paperwork.

Where your data goes
211 partners, and precise geolocation
Open joyland.ai in a fresh browser and the first thing you get is a consent dialog. It is a standard advertising industry consent frame, the same kind news sites use, and it is worth reading rather than clicking through.
"Your personal data will be processed and information from your device (cookies, unique identifiers, and other device data) may be stored by, accessed by and shared with 211 partners, or used specifically by this site. We and our partners may use precise geolocation data."
The stated purposes are "personalised advertising and content, advertising and content measurement, audience research and services development". That is ordinary for a free consumer site funded by ads. It is a different proposition on a service where the thing you do is have explicit conversations, because the identifiers being shared are tied to a device that a household often shares.

The container that loads other tags. What it fires depends on their configuration.

connect.facebook.net and www.facebook.com, the standard Facebook pixel and SDK pair.

www.clarity.ms. Clarity is a session replay and heatmap product, so it records how a page is used, not only that it was visited.
DataRangers
collect-rangers-v5.1.13.js from lf3-data.volccdn.com. That is Volcano Engine, ByteDance's enterprise cloud arm, and DataRangers is its behavioral analytics product.
To be even handed, most of these are unremarkable on a normal website and several competitors run similar stacks. Candy.ai loads Tag Manager, Meta and TikTok. Nomi loads Amplitude, Tag Manager and Reddit. What makes Joyland's stack stand out is the combination: a 211 partner advertising consent frame, precise geolocation, and session replay, all on an adult chat product. For what it is worth, Chub.ai loaded no third party analytics or advertising hosts at all when we checked it, and we said so on our Chub AI alternative page too.

What Joyland's privacy policy does not say
Omissions are harder to notice than clauses, so here are the three we checked for and could not find.
No date
The terms are dated "Last updated May 14, 2025". The privacy policy carries no effective date and no last updated line anywhere, so there is no way to tell when it was last reviewed or whether it predates the current product.
No retention period
The word retention does not appear in either document. Nothing states how long chat logs are kept after you stop using the service, or whether deleting your account deletes them.
No California section
The policy is written mainly to UK and EU law, and its one US specific section is headed "Delaware Privacy Rights". For an American buyer that is an odd shape, though it does state plainly: "We do not and will not sell your Personal Information."
The clause people actually search for is about the chats themselves. "Does joyland ai read your chats" is a live autocomplete suggestion, and section 2 of the privacy policy is the closest thing to an answer:
"We may convert the collected dialogue text data into anonymous numbers and graphs, and use it in non-profit academic cooperation with certified* third-party academic institutions, academic conferences, journal publications and other academic activities."
Their own footnote defines certified institutions as state-recognized universities and research institutes whose researchers have formal training in data security. As disclosures go this is more transparent than most, and it is aggregated rather than raw. But combined with the missing retention period it means the honest answer to "how long do they keep my chats" is that the documents do not say.
What it costs
Joyland AI pricing, and why we quote no number
Joyland does not show a price to a logged-out visitor. The subscribe route redirects to the home page, no tier appears in the public app, and the only pricing signal on the front page is a banner reading "UP TO 50% OFF" above a running countdown timer.
Plenty of articles ranking for "joyland ai pricing" will give you a confident dollar figure anyway. We are not going to, because we could not verify one, and a wrong price is worse than no price. What we can quote is the billing language, which is the part that actually costs people money.

The cancellation clause is the practical one. If you subscribed inside the iOS or Android app, you cancel in that app store, and if you subscribed on the web you cancel with whichever processor took the money. A Delaware mail address and a Singapore company suffix on the same entity is a normal shape for an internet business and is not by itself a warning sign. It does mean that if a subscription goes wrong, your practical route is the payment partner that charged you rather than a US office, which lines up with the cancellation clause above.
