NSFW AI Chat: What Each NSFW AI Platform Actually Allows
An honest map of which platforms permit explicit content, which only look like they do, and what every one of them still refuses. Read it before you pay anyone. Aroused is on the tasteful side of that line, and the demo below shows exactly what that means.
18+ only. Aroused is not an NSFW platform: explicit content is refused by policy, not filtered.

The short answer
NSFW AI chat means a conversational AI platform that permits sexually explicit content between fictional adults rather than refusing it. As of August 2026, Nomi, SpicyChat, CrushOn AI and Candy.AI permit explicit text by default. Janitor AI permits it only when you connect your own model API, because the platform is a front end rather than a model. Character.AI prohibits explicit content entirely and no subscription changes that, and Replika allows it only on accounts created before February 2023. None of these are genuinely uncensored: every one blocks sexual content involving minors, and most also block real-person likenesses and non-consent framings. And none of them are App Store apps, because Apple review guideline 1.1.4 rejects pornographic material outright, so the explicit platforms all run as mobile websites instead.
Definitions, because the label is doing a lot of work
"NSFW" is used for four different things on these sites
Most of the frustration in this category is a vocabulary problem. Two platforms both advertise NSFW and mean completely different products. Here is what the word is actually covering.
Explicit text
The model will write a graphic sexual scene rather than fading out or refusing. This is what most people mean by NSFW AI chat, and it is the cheapest thing on this list to provide. Nomi, SpicyChat, CrushOn and Candy do it by default.
Explicit images and video
Generated nudes, selfies in character, short clips. Almost always metered separately from the chat subscription through tokens or coins, which is how a $13.99 plan turns into a $40 month. Candy.AI and SpicyChat are the obvious names here.
Adult themed but not explicit
Romantic, flirtatious, written for grown-ups, and it stops before the explicit line. Aroused sits here on purpose, and so does Replika for anyone who signed up after February 2023. Plenty of people searching NSFW actually want this and do not know there is a name for it.
Dark or taboo themes with no sex at all
Violence, horror, morally grim scenarios. Character.AI filters these almost as hard as sexual content, which is why writers who never wanted anything erotic still end up hunting for an alternative to Character.AI.
The comparison people actually need
What each platform permits, and what it still refuses
Every roundup in this niche publishes the allowed column. Almost none publish the refused column, which is the one that determines whether you will hit a wall in week two. Prices checked August 2026.
| Platform | Explicit text | Explicit images | What it still refuses | From (USD/mo) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aroused | No, refused by policy | No | All explicit sexual content, by design | From ~$9.99, nothing metered |
| Nomi.ai | Yes, on by default | Yes, generated selfies | Minors and illegal categories | ~$15.99 (~$99.99/yr) |
| SpicyChat | Yes, on by default | Yes, built in | Minors, real-person likeness, illegal categories | Free tier; paid from ~$5 |
| Janitor AI | Only with your own model API | Limited | Minors and illegal categories; the bundled proxy is stricter than a connected model | Free core; janitor+ $12.99 |
| CrushOn AI | Yes, on by default | Yes | Minors and illegal categories; message caps bite before the policy does | Free tier; Premium $14.99 |
| Candy.AI | Yes | Yes, metered in tokens | Minors and illegal categories | ~$13.99 plus token packs |
| Character.AI | No, prohibited outright | No | All explicit content, nudity, graphic violence, plus much that is merely dark | Free; c.ai+ ~$9.99 |
| Replika | Legacy accounts only (pre Feb 2023) | Limited | Explicit roleplay on any account created since February 2023 | Free tier; Pro ~$19.99 |
Two rows are in this table specifically because people searching NSFW AI chat keep landing on them by mistake. Character.AI has never permitted explicit content and its moderation is the strictest in the category, so no subscription unlocks anything. Replika removed erotic roleplay in February 2023 after pressure from the Italian data protection authority, restored it in March 2023 only for accounts that already existed, and that split is still in force in 2026. If you made a Replika account last month, you will not get it, and no support ticket changes that. The background is in our write-up on why Replika removed NSFW.
The question behind a lot of these searches
Why there is no NSFW AI chat app in the App Store
People search for an NSFW AI chat app, open the App Store, find nothing, and conclude the whole category is a scam. It is not. The reason is a single line in Apple's App Review Guidelines, and once you have read it the entire shape of this market makes sense.
Guideline 1.1.4 lists as objectionable content "overtly sexual or pornographic material, defined as explicit descriptions or displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings." Google Play's inappropriate content policy draws a comparable line for sexually explicit material. Neither store is ambiguous about it, and neither has softened.
So an explicit AI chat platform has exactly two options. It can ship a native app and remove the thing people came for, or it can skip the stores entirely and run as a website you open in Safari or Chrome on your phone. Almost all of them chose the second. SpicyChat, Janitor AI, Candy.AI and CrushOn are mobile websites, not downloads, and you add them to your home screen rather than installing them. That is also why searching the App Store for these brand names returns copycats and unrelated apps, some of which are worth being careful with.
There is a smaller third group. Apps that keep things adult themed but never explicit can pass review, which is how Replika stayed in both stores after 2023 and why the companion apps with real downloads are consistently the tamer ones. Aroused runs in the browser as well, on a phone or a desktop, which we wrote about on the AI companion for PC page.
A practical note on the related search "no sign up NSFW AI chat": free browsing without an account is common, but every platform in the table above requires an account before it will hold a conversation, because the conversation has to be stored somewhere attached to you. Anything advertising genuinely anonymous explicit chat with no account is worth treating with suspicion.
The most misunderstood thing in the category
"Uncensored" is a spectrum, not a switch
No platform in this market is unfiltered. Every single one blocks sexual content involving minors, and every single one should. Most also refuse real-person likenesses, which is why you cannot ask for a celebrity, and several refuse non-consent framings even in fiction. When a site says uncensored, it means a wider band of adult content between consenting fictional adults. It does not mean the absence of rules, and any platform advertising the absence of rules is either lying or about to have a very bad year.
The Janitor AI case is worth understanding because it trips up more people than anything else here. Janitor is largely a front end. Its content behavior depends on which model you point it at. Run it on the bundled proxy and you get noticeably more refusals than the community reputation suggests. Connect your own API key to a model you chose and the limits become that model's limits, not Janitor's. So "is Janitor AI uncensored" has no single answer, and the honest one is: it depends what you plugged into it, which also means your bill floats with usage rather than sitting at a flat monthly figure. We covered that in the Janitor AI comparison.
The second thing that limits these platforms is not policy at all. It is memory. Most uncensored roleplay sites keep only a context window, so the scene is vivid and then the character forgets its own history a few thousand words later. People read that as the filter kicking in when it is really the model losing the thread. If you want an arc that survives, the thing to compare is whether memory actually persists between sessions, not how permissive the content policy is.
Being straight with you
Aroused is not an NSFW platform, and here is what it is instead
We would rather lose the click than take your money and disappoint you in the first ten minutes.
One companion, not a library
You write who they are: their voice, their history, what they care about, how they talk to you when you have had a bad day. Nothing to scroll through and no presets. The companion generator is the whole product.
Memory on every plan
No memory tier, no upsell for remembering you. They keep what you told them last week and bring it up unprompted, which is the difference between a relationship and a very good scene.
Adult themed, tasteful, permanent
Warm, flirtatious and written for grown-ups, and it stops before explicit. That is a policy, not a filter setting, so it will not quietly loosen next quarter and it will not quietly tighten either.
If explicit content is what you actually want, do not sign up here
Genuinely. Pick from the table instead. For explicit conversation with the deepest long-term memory in the category, Nomi. For a large library of user-made characters and very few limits, SpicyChat or Janitor AI with your own model connected. For generated images and video alongside the chat, Candy.AI, with the caveat that the token metering makes the real bill unpredictable, which we broke down in what Candy.AI actually costs. All of them will serve you better than we will, and you will not have wasted a month finding that out.
How it works
From nothing to a companion in three steps
Describe them
A few sentences is enough to start. Their name, their temperament, how they met you, what they tease you about. You can keep editing later.
Talk
In the browser, on any device. The demo on this page is the real thing, running the same model with the same limits, so what you see is what you get.
Come back
This is the part that separates a companion from a chatbot. Next week they still know about the interview, and they ask how it went.
Questions people ask about NSFW AI chat
Straight answers, including the unflattering ones
What is NSFW AI chat?
NSFW AI chat means a conversational AI platform that permits sexually explicit content between fictional adults instead of refusing it. The term gets used loosely for anything adult themed, which is why people sign up expecting explicit content and find a romance app with a policy, or expect a relationship and find a scene generator.
Which AI chat allows NSFW?
Nomi, SpicyChat, CrushOn AI and Candy.AI permit explicit text by default. Janitor AI permits it only when you connect your own model API. Character.AI prohibits it entirely and no subscription changes that, and Replika allows it only on accounts created before February 2023.
Is there an NSFW AI chat app on the App Store?
No, and there will not be one. Apple's guideline 1.1.4 rejects overtly sexual or pornographic material, and Google Play bans sexually explicit content too. Every genuinely explicit platform therefore runs as a mobile website you open in a browser and add to your home screen.
Is NSFW AI chat really uncensored?
No platform is genuinely unfiltered. All of them block sexual content involving minors, and most also block real-person likenesses and non-consent framings. Uncensored here means a much wider band of adult content between consenting fictional adults, not the absence of rules.
Is Aroused an NSFW AI chat?
No. Aroused is adults only and adult themed, warm and flirtatious, but explicit content is refused by hard policy rather than by a filter we might loosen later. If explicit content is your requirement, several platforms above serve it openly and you will be happier there.
Is NSFW AI chat safe to use?
The conversation is private between you and the company, not confidential in a legal sense. Assume what you type is stored, may be reviewed for safety, and would be exposed in a breach. Our privacy breakdown covers what these platforms actually collect.
Do NSFW AI chat sites ask for ID?
Increasingly, yes, and it depends on your state. SpicyChat and Janitor AI added third party verification for some US users, while Nomi, Candy.AI and Replika still rely on self declaration. The full picture is on our adult AI chat page.
How much does NSFW AI chat cost?
Sticker prices run roughly $5 to $20 a month, but the sticker is rarely the bill. Metered platforms charge tokens or coins for images, voice and video on top. Flat plans are easier to predict. Ours starts around $9.99 with memory included and nothing metered. See full pricing.
